a big storyteller!
likes to tell:
the story of the blue jay - how the blue jay envied other birds' beautiful colours, and fell into the river - the river gave her life again, telling her to try again, and it flew out blue - every jay yous ee in the forest now is one of her distant daughters.
the lost apprentice - the apprentice who died and couldn't find her way to starclan during a storm, got lost, and walked across the entire sky to reach them. her name was silverpaw - became silverpelt, and it's named in her honour.
how snakes came to the forest - LionClan warrior Sunpelt went to a dark cave near Snakerocks which housed the giant snake Mouthclaw - the only snake in the forest. She had killed many great warriors. Cats were forbidden from going to Snakercocks. But Sunpelt wanted to prove his greatness.
Called Mouthclaw out to fight, she was huge. Sunpelt was too quick when she attacked -- they fought all day until she couldn't fight anymore. "Spare me and Ill grant you a wish"
Sun: "You will shrink as a cat's tail, then you may allow to stay"
"Is that all?" -- a tiny snake wouldnt be a big danger. A great cloud of dust, and she had shrunk into a hundred little snakes -- now instead of one, there were hundreds! Sunpelt was horrified, racing home. At first Goldenstar - LionClan's leader - was furious. "You know better than to bargain w snakes; they are cunning and outwit us every time."
"but you have still done a great service. dangerous as little snakes may be, none will ever be as dangerous as mouthclaw had been. Goldenstar forgave his bright warrior, for Sunpelt wasn't the first-nor the last- cat to be tricked by a snake in the grass.

The Weasel and the Squirrel
An old weasel, whose teeth and claws were so worn that it was not easy for him to hunt, had announced that he was very ill, and asked the animals of the forest to come see him one last time. So the Mouse went in to the Weasel's Warren, and stayed there visiting a long while. Then Vole went in. Before he came out, Shrew also went in. But soon the weasel began to feel better, and came to the front of his warren. The weasel saw the Squirrel, who had been waiting outside for a long while. "Why do you not come to pay your respects to me?" the weasel growled.
"Excuse me," said the Squirrel, "but I noticed all of your visitors that have already come in, I see many pawprints going in, but none coming out. Until the animals that have entered your cave come out again, I'd prefer to remain here in open air."
lesson: learn from the mistakes of others
The Hunter and His Prey (Strongclaw's Pride)
A warrior by the name of Strongclaw, the Clan's bravest and most mightiest hunter, had been out to hunt in the glade in the dead of Leaf-bare, returning home with a bounty of prey to show to his Clan.
"This is good, flavorful prey," he mused, "it will feed plenty! The kits in the nursery will be able to wean, the elders tell their tales with warm, full bellies, and warriors replenish after a hard day's work. All the warriors will look at me and come to love me, and shower me with their praises, and perhaps one day make me leader of the Clan!"
As Strongclaw thought of how grand his reception back home would be for his lucky hunt, he tossed his head proudly - and his prey fell from his jaws. A sneaky band of weasels ran out from the shrubbery, stealing the prey from right under his stunned nose. And all the prey vanished, every whisker and tail, and with it vanished all the warrior's pride.
lesson: don't be sure of something before it's actually happened; desires or imaginary things aren't realities!

The Ant & The Dove
A Dove saw an Ant fall into a brook. The Ant struggled to reach the bank, and in pity, the Dove dropped a blade of grass close behind it. Clinging to the straw, the Ant was able to float safely to shore.
Soon after, the Ant saw a weasel crouched, getting ready to kill the Dove. But as he leapt, the Ant stung him in the hindpaw, so that the pain made him miss his aim, and the startled Dove flew to safety in a distant wood.
lesson: A kindness is never wasted.

The Apprentice in the Warriors' Den
An apprentice asleep in the warmest nest in the warriors' den, was awakened by the warriors, who came in tired and worn from hunting and patrolling all day in the forest. But the Apprentice would not let them get near the nest, and snarled and quipped as if it were filled with the best of mice and birds, all for himself.
The Warriors looked at the apprentice with disgust. "How selfish he is!" said one warrior. "Where is his mentor? He has his own nest in his own den, and yet he is here, stealing ours when we have worked so much harder!"
Now the leader came in. When he saw how the Apprentice was acting, he seized them by the ear and drove him out from the den, giving him elder's duties for three moons with many-a jobs for his selfish behaviour. He never tried to sleep in the warriors' den (until he himself was a warrior, too, many moons later when his folly righted him) again.
lesson: Do not grudge others what you cannot enjoy yourself. (the warriors nest was of no real value to the apprentice, as he had his own warm nest to lay in, yet he chose to sleep in the warriors' den without thought of those who really slept there)
The Hares & The Frogs
Hares, as you know, are very timid. The least shadow sends them scurrying in fright to a hiding place. Once they decided to die rather than live in such misery. But while they were debating how to best meet death, they thought they heard a noise and in a flash were scampering off to the warren in the moor. On eht eway they passed a pond where a family of Frogs was sitting among the reeds on the bank. In an sinstant, the startled Frogs were seeking safety in the mud.
"Look," cried a Hare, "things cannot be so bad after all, for here are creatures who are even afraid of us!"
- However unfortunate we may think we are there is always someone worse off than ourselves.
The Mossback Badger
a great creature lurks in the swamps and deepest, darkest parts of the forest- a monstrous badger, so old and gnarled that even moss has begun to grow on his back.
The Water Serpent
A very old name for a snake, used by the great Clans to describe snakes we find in water, rare as they come. basically a river monster
The Swan of the Swamp
With feathers murky as mud on a stormy night that haunts the waters of the forest in Leaf-bare, the cold forces the Swan of the Swamp to come up from the bottoms the icy waters. Many-a warriors had tried to fight the haunting creature and stop its haunt, but none succeeded - and none ever returned home.
One night, when a queen awoke to find one of her kits missing from her nest, she was enraged, adamant that the Swan of the Swamp had stolen her kit in the night - if the muddy web-footed pawprints was anymore proof than she needed. She stalked the prints to the edge of a somber pond, and up from the water emerged the frightening Swan: with eyes of glowing red and feathers that reeked of salt and algae. The queen challenged the Swan to return her kit, who she saw dangling wet and terrified, stuck on the swan's icky back.
The Swan accepted, beating its powerful black wings - and charged. But the queen was quick, charged by the love for her kitten - and cast a swift blow to the Swan's throat and chest, causing it to wail. It dropped her kit which she quickly picked up, and it disappeared hastily under the surface.
Never again was the Swan of the Swamp so bold, picking on cats of all sizes in their own territory. Some uttered that it died from its terrible wound under the surface of the water - but some say on the coldest, darkest nights of Leaf-bare, you can hear the swan crooning from under the surface of the water, luring curious cats in so that it can finally hunt again.
